1 Eyre Square has been a beloved staple in the Glaway community since the 1800s.
The Richardson family owned the pub from 1955 until 2023, when it was purchased by the O’Connor family. Dedicated to preserving the traditional pub atmosphere, the O’Connors continue to offer Irish music, dancing, and the classic spirit of “craic agus ceol.”
The building boasts an intriguing history. It’s said to have been the residence of Nora Barnacle, wide of James Joyce. Joyce early death and Nora’s deep affection for him inspired his story, “The Dead.”
